Memories - The Mummy Reviews

HTere are only so many words that you can describe this movie. But there is one thing that you can describe this moive and it is Memories.

Aften ten times of seeing it, i am not bored. - The Mummy Reviews

I thought I would get bored of it. I think that task may be impossible. The Mummy has a great storyline and wonderful special effects. The acting is done very well, mostly by Brendan Fraiser. The direction is really good. The movie is aimed to not be scary, but ends up being a TINY bit scary the first time you see it. That kind of screws it up a wee bit. All in all, though, this is one of the best movies of 1999.

The first of the two - The Mummy Reviews

I find the first movie fun to see, although it is not as good as the second movie. The adventure took place in the cavern in Egypt. It is near the city of Cairo. My favorite part of the movie is that when the main character rescues the Golden Book and clears the evil. Then the cavern falls and closes up. I own both Mummy and Mummy Returns on DVD.

Hmm - The Mummy Reviews

brendon fraser is the ideal actor for this hero role. he shoots everything, tough rough and dont take no crap. the girl is mediocore and could be a lot better, she's better looking in the second one, she is a good actress but is it just me or does her hair look like it was used as a mop? i like benny, he's so weak its funny, and i like how he dies :)

The mummy - The Mummy Reviews

After his last film bombed ("Deep Rising"), Steohen Sommers released this wonderful action/adventure that thrilled audiences and some critics. Now it seems completely ridiculous, but its fun. Thumbs up.

Great - The Mummy Reviews

Seeing that its a Horror, stupid Action, kind of film I stayed away from it for along time, but then I decided, what the heck, it cant be that bad if it has Brendan Fraser in it, and it ended up being, one of the best Action, Thrillers I have everseen.

Some scary parts but different then most horror - The Mummy Reviews

This PG 13 film can be scary at times. The mummy is scary and then guy he takes the parts from is scary. There are bugs that go in your skin and they are REALLY creepy. But the plot wasnt to scary. So it gets a B minus

One of the best! - The Mummy Reviews

Seriously people, if you did not like thid movie then what wiil you like? This is defenetly one of the greatest movies. Even the critics can't argue that. The story was awsome. An aceint curse trying to bring his lover back from the dead. The second one wasn't as great but this one rocked. One of my favorites. I saw it back when it was in theatres and i have the dvd. GREAT is the only way to describe this movie. I have watched it over and over. I hope they make a third one!

Mummy mummy mum - The Mummy Reviews

Mummy not mommy....or maybe? - The Mummy Reviews

This version was not intended to be a horror flick but rather an action and adventure. Detailing of the movie was well thought out (set, costumes). Yet the overall cheesy script and storyline just didn't cut it to be a brilliant work of art. It is though, action packed and the language is extremely clean. A good movie to share with family and even a "date".

All that gold.... gone - The Mummy Reviews

This was a very good movie. The reason I think that a lot of people liked it is because to that time there has not been a movie about some mummy coming to life. Although this movie may scare some young kids it is a good family film.

Stiff ghoul aroused - The Mummy Reviews

Brendan Fraser has another run-in with some "gods and monsters" in Universal Pictures' first attempt to remake one of their 1930s horror classics. Fraser is an Indiana Jones-like treasure hunter and convict, enlisted by a bumbling researcher (Rachel Weisz) to go looking for the ancient City of the Dead. The two end-up battling a reanimated MUMMY (Arnold Vosloo); a cross between Robocop and The Terminator -- but, without their love for mankind. Part RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981), part PREDATOR (1987), and part ARMAGEDDON (1998), THE MUMMY is one mish-mosh of a movie. Although only mildly entertaining in its own right, the movie is a gas for all its hokey inconsistencies. There are lots of...bugs. The *second* most notable species are scarab beetles, one of the ten plagues unleashed by the ancient Imhotep (Vosloo). Even more predominant are the countless glitches and discrepancies that make THE MUMMY so...yummy. Let's start with the bugs. They're everywhere. Imhotep is buried in a sarcophagus full of them. Someone explains that they eat flesh very slowly, over many years. Later, a swarm of them envelops a guy and devours him instantaneously. John Hannah, who was charming in SLIDING DOORS (1997), plays a fast-talking comic foil. In one scene, a huge scarab beetle digs into his hand, and travels under his skin up to his shoulder. In the next scene, Hannah sports a bandaged forearm. But, in no time, he's hanging off the wing of a plane -- in flight! -- and fighting-off mummified armies without apparent injury. THE MUMMY is, in many respects, like a cartoon. It is, by definition, a horror film -- but, not particularly horrible. There's lots of comedy -- but, it's not terribly funny. As in a cartoon, things happen without consequence -- like Hannah's miraculously-healing arm. In one scene, it rains fire over Cairo. In subsequent scenes, there is no fire damage, anywhere. There's no depiction of widespread panic and, most bafflingly, no explanation of why we never heard of the Great Cairo Fire of 1923, since the movie is set in the past! The dialogue is classic: EVELYN: I may not be an explorer. I may not be an adventurer. But, I'm proud of what I am. RICK: And what is that, exactly? EVELYN: I'm a librarian! My favorite line was one in which someone mentions Hamunaptra, the ancient City of the Dead. Another character replies, "Are we talking about *the* Hamunaptra?" He acts as if everybody knows Hamunaptra, but goes on to describe it in the type of elaborate detail normally reserved for an unknown quantity. The equivalent would be if someone said, 'Elvis Presley? You mean THE Elvis Presley -- the 20th Century American popular singer of 'Hound Dog' with gyrating hip action?' You gotta love that. How did this movie came to be so successful? - The Mummy Reviews

Adult visuals and images, but an 8 years old child level plot. The movie has a promising first part and builds interest, but it all crumbles to dust once the mummy is summoned into the movie. This bad guy was so stupid it's a wonder he didnt kill himself trying to eat his own head. I really wanted to like The Mummy, but that was impossible with a vilain that's supposed to be sinister but that makes you want to cry or laugh because every and each of his actions just cannot make sense. This vilain would actually have fitted nicely as the vilain in a comedy like the Naked Gun or something.

A really cool update on the classic monster movie! - The Mummy Reviews

I love Brendan Fraser in this movie! He's a great updated version of Indiana Jones in a way, as the adventurous Rick O'Connell. Oded Fehr plays Ardeth, the leading member of the maji...and has the perfect exotic good looks for the part. Rachel Weisz is great as Evelyn, who is a hopeful archaeologist & the story's damsel in distress. All the other actors are really good, too. There's humorous moments...the costumes are great & visuals are awesome!

Mummies, and curses, and more, oh my! - The Mummy Reviews

Ok, so 3,000 years ago, high priest Imhotep of Thebes decides to have an affair w/ the pharoh's fiancee' who no one was supposed to touch and when confronted, they both kill the pharoh, then she kills herself believing when the time was right, Imhotep would ressurect her. He then steals her body and takes it to Hammunaptra and attempts to bring her soul back from the underworld using the Book of the Dead, but he is caught by pharoh's bodyguards. Therefore, the worst of all the ancient curses was used upon him and he was buried alive among other disgusting things. He vowed to return and to the current day the city of Hummanuptra (or the city of the dead) where he was buried is protected (as much as possible) by the descendants of the bodyguards. Brendan Frasier's character Rick O'Connell has been there and knows evil is there, but still ends up coming back to the site with a team of Americans, Arabs, and Rachel Weisz who is his love interest. She comes across the Book of the Dead and accidentally resurrects Imhotep... and all hell breaks lose. So, with an undead mummy killing any who come in his way and seeking dominion over the earth, Brendan, Rachel, and the rest of the gang have their work cut out. Big time. The story is great. It is a love story, action movie in the genre of Indiana Jones, it is suspense, it is comedy, and anything else. The sets are very cool. The flashbacks to Ancient Egypt are great. You can tell this movie took a long time to create. The special effects of the mummy and his minions as well as giant bugs and sky-high sand storms are without fault. This movie doesn't have a dull moment. The acting is very authentic and believable as well. I love the characters because they all contrast each other so much. Script wise, it fits perfectly with Ancient Egypt dialogue (and most of the mummy's dialogue is in Arab), and the rest is humorful and intense which blends well with the movie. The score is very good as well. There is so much going on in this movie, that you cannot just analyze every aspect of it. Basically, it is a keeper, and it is one of my five favorite movies, and for my standards, that is saying a lot. The whole ambiance of the film is eerie and brilliant. I love every time something pops out or something unexpected happens. Great film. No regrets in buying it, and I don't get tired of watching it.

One of the best movies out there! - The Mummy Reviews

I'm not sure which is better : the outstanding casting or the wonderous special effects. This movie is a marvel in the special effects dept - the mummy scenes are downright real. Tremendous cast (including a profound performance by Voslo and a unusually brilliant performance by Frasier) and fantastic storyline make this movie one to own! KRO

Awesome - The Mummy Reviews

I saw it when I was in the 5th grade, I went to the theater and it was packed. I could barely hear the movie from all the talking. Everybody loved it. I am now in 10th grade and I still watch it when it comes on TV.

One of the best movies out there! - The Mummy Reviews

What do you get when you mix comedy, a creepy tale of the undead, Brendon Fraser, and an action film that blows most others out of the water? You get a film called The Mummy!! An awesome action packed adventure where a mummy is accidentaly ressurected so its up to O'Connol and Evie to put the mummy back in his grave. Though it's based on the original horror flicks it really has tons of comedy woven throughout the plot. The acting is great and I really loved the visuals. The mummy comes out of his sarcofacas all "juicy" and decomposing and, as he takes vital body parts from men who opened the cursed chest containing the book of the living, he slowly moves closer to being fully regenerated. The sets are magnificent as well as the movie's music. The film also has a bit of romance that builds through the plot, and the end is left wide open for a sequal. The whole movie is all around awesome. It's definately one of the best movies of the year. Little kids may be a little creaped out by certain parts, but kids 9 and up I suppose would really enjoy it. Anyone who is having a movie night soon should seriously consider this movie.

One of my favorite movies. - The Mummy Reviews

This movie has it all. From drama to romance to action it has more than most movies ever could have.

Great movie. - The Mummy Reviews

I'll watch it over and over again. Adventurer Rick O'Connel (Fraser) and Egyptiologist Evelyn (Weisz) accidently release a terrifying mummy named Imhotep from his grave, when they travel to Hamunaptra in search of treasure. Cool but scary movie. Rated: PG-13 For Pervasive Adventure Violence, Lanuage, and Some Partial Nudity. Running Time: 125 Minutes

I am a librarian! - The Mummy Reviews

I LOVE this movie! It rocks! I watch it all the time...sort of. Well I watch it a lot. The character of Evelyn is so cute I want to be more like her! But...ya...if you want to watch a good movie...watch the mummy.

The mummy - The Mummy Reviews

I think this movie is the best thriller so far of the 21st century. There is a little twist because you dont expect the mummy to actually find all 4 people thats what makes this movie exciting and a good movie to watch as many times as u want. But that is not the only reason this is a good movie another reason is because there is good Acting and Direction and good actors too.

"great movie" - The Mummy Reviews

This movie is great. The way they surround the whole mummy story is awesome, they just did not say "ahhh beware of the mummy's curse" They realy got into it witch realy makes the movie what is and that is great. A quote from the movie "the whole sand wall trick was just amazing" and boy was he right. The sand wall trick was, it realy was. Over all this was a realy great movie. I give it 2 thumbs up, and 5 stars

Terror beneath the sands - The Mummy Reviews

Though unlike the the 1932 horror classic, this stylish remake is a solid, thrill-a-minute adventure that combines daring heroics and amazing special effects.
